FtsK is required for resolution of chromosome dimers at dif by XerCD. FtsK helps keep the nucleoids properly localized, recognizing opposing replichores by using FtsK orienting polar sequences (KOPS). The N-terminal domain is membrane-anchored, localizes to the division septum and is required for cell division.
