Description:
The 22 rRNA genes encode the rRNAs that are the structural and catalytic RNAs of the bacterial ribosome.
Details:
Eight 5S rRNA genes (rrfABCDEFGH) and seven 23S rRNA genes (rrlABCDEGH) are the large subunit rRNA genes and seven 16S rRNA genes (rrsABCDEGH) are to the small subunit rRNA genes. They are contained in the seven rrnABCDEGH operons, along with miscellaneous tRNA genes.
